Group of 2 1944 WWII Allied Military Currency, 5 German Marks and 1 "B" Yen Notes Grades

Lot # 5 (Sale Order: 3 of 2799)

Group of 2 1944 WWII Allied Military Currency, 5 German Marks and 1 "B" Yen Notes Grades. Allied Military Currency ("AMC") was a form of currency issued by the All...moreied powers during World War II, to be issued to troops entering liberated or newly occupied countries. Historically, soldiers serving overseas had been paid in local currency rather than in their "home" currency. Most cash drawn by soldiers would go directly into the local economy, and in a damaged economy the effects of a hard currency such as the dollar circulating freely alongside weaker local currencies could be severely problematic, risking severe inflation.

1966 Special Mint Set SMS

Lot # 10 (Sale Order: 8 of 2799)

1966 Special Mint Set SMS. In 1964, just when the mint was removing 90% silver coins from circulation, and the us was having a coin shortage, the Mint announced th...moreat beginning in 1965, no Proof Sets, or Mint Sets would be produced, Instead they would be making a Special Mint Set. Special Mint Set coins were not proofs, and were not uncirculated, Mint State pieces. Dies for the coins were over polished, while the planchet themselves were not polished. The resulting SMS coins have a brilliant, proof like appearance, much nicer than the run-of-the-mill circulation coins. In 1965 these sets were released in the Traditional Mint Cellophane and White Envelope and in 1966 and 1967 they were packaged in hard, pale blue plastic holders. Note, the set contains a 40% Half Dollar.

Sealed 2007 United States Mint Set in Original Government Shipped Box, Never Opened! 20 Coins Inside

Lot # 13 (Sale Order: 9 of 2799)

Sealed 2007 United States Mint Set in Original Government Shipped Box, Never Opened! 20 Coins Inside!. Starting with the 2007 Mint Set significantly altered the pa...moreckaging to coincide with the launch of the Presidential Dollars series, which had the impact of boosting the number of coins per set to 28, compared to 20 coins in the previous year. The sets were the first to include the uncirculated versions of the first four releases of the Presidential $1 Coin Program was highlighted. The Presidents depicted were George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison. Their portraits appeared on the obverse of each coin with a common portrayal of the Statue of Liberty on the reverse. The coin series featured incused edge lettering, which contained the date, mint mark, and the mottoes “E Pluribus Unum” and “In God We Trust”. The 2007 Mint Sets also included the next five designs released for the State Quarters Program, featuring Montana, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah. The remaining coins were the Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Kennedy Half Dollar, and Sacagawea Dollar. All coins continued to utilize the satin finish, which had been introduced for the annual set in 2005. Around this time, the US Mint began to refer to the satin finish versions as “uncirculated versions”. The sets were now packaged in two separate blister pack folders. The outer flap included illustrations of the Denver and Philadelphia skylines. Folders opened to reveal 14 coins from each mint, sealed in individual blisters which allowed both sides of the coins, as well as the edges to be seen. The back side of the flap included coin specification information and a certification of authenticity. Get your hands on this never opened 2007 mint set!

Original sealed 1963 United States Mint Proof Set Tennessee Valley Hoard

Lot # 16 (Sale Order: 11 of 2799)

Original sealed 1963 United States Mint Proof Set Tennessee Valley Hoard. Once in a lifetime collection We are proud to bring to auction the greatest proof collec...moretion of the late 1950s and early 1960s. This collection may contain some of the only unopened mega boxes of unopened proof sets still in existence. In all my years in numismatics I have never seen a collection like this one. Finding cameo and deep cameo proofs from this era is near impossible u less you pay full retail and buy them already holdered. All of the sets at coin shows have been examined and have virtually no cameos. The only way to get the same odds of finding one of these valuable cameos is to buy an unopened set. Many sets today that are purported to be unopened have a actually been opened and resealed or put into a fresh envelope and sealed. This 100% original lot is guaranteed to be unopened from the day it left the mint. We will cover your laboratory costs and pay you 10x your cost of the set if the carbon dating on this set shows that the glue is not from the late 1950s 1960s. A true once in a lifetime opportunity

*EXCLUSIVE* x20 Mixed Covered End Roll! Marked "Morgan/Peace Standard"! - Huge Vault Hoard (FC)

Lot # 24 (Sale Order: 15 of 2799)

*EXCLUSIVE* x20 Mixed Covered End Roll! Marked "Morgan/Peace Standard"! - Huge Vault Hoard (FC). Up for auction is a (20 coin roll marked “Morgan/Peace Standard” ...moreand having two covered ends and weighing 523.8g), one roll amongst the 2700+ roll hoard which after seeing it can only be described as the Long Island Vault Hoard. Inside the vault are hundreds upon hundreds of dollar rolls. Some are 10 coin rolls some are 20, most are hand marked as to what’s inside and most have covered ends. We have opened about 20 of the rolls and have not found any that were mismarked. The vault at one point I believe had the rolls separated into three sections. The markings standard, premium, limited were marked on the sections. Additionally there was a small safe inside the vault marked “Reserve”. But when we first the saw the hoard, the sections were empty as was the small safe. It appeared that at some point the rolls were all put into canvas bank bags, which bags were all lying on the floor of the vault. The agreement with for the Consignee is that we wire on Friday their portion of the funds for any rolls paid that week and on Mondays we will send our runner up to Long Island to retrieve the rolls for shipment that week from our offices as well as photographing the rolls for the next weeks auction. We hope you enjoy these rolls as much as we have bringing them to you.

2007-2008 Zimbabwe 50 Million Dollars (ZWR, 3rd Dollar) Hyperinflation Banknote P# 79a Grades vf++

Lot # 45 (Sale Order: 21 of 2799)

2007-2008 Zimbabwe 50 Million Dollars (ZWR, 3rd Dollar) Hyperinflation Banknote P# 79a Grades vf++. Hyperinflation in Zimbabwe is an ongoing crisis. While yearly i...morenflation was often measured in the hundreds of percentage points in the early 2000s, from 2007 to 2008 it was measured in the millions, and then trillions. The first Zimbabwean dollar (ZWD) was abandoned in 2005 and replaced with the second (ZWN). The second had to be abandoned again in August 2008, and its replacement currency (ZWR) became obsolete due to ongoing hyperinflation only 6 months later, resulting in a third replacement currency (ZWL). The ZWL was formally demonetised in 2015, and Zimbabwe generally relies on a variety of foreign currencies for local trade.

1970 United States Mint Set in Original Government Packaging! 10 Coins Inside!. 1970 United States Mint Set from 1970 included a total of 10 coins struck at three ...moredifferent mint facilities. The Philadelphia Mint coins and the single Lincoln Cent struck at the San Francisco Mint were placed within a cellophane pack with a blue stripe and the Denver Mint coins were placed in a pack with a red stripe.
